The Shiba Inu is considered the smallest and the oldest of Japan's dogs. The Shiba Inu may seem slightly aloof at first, but is typically an inquisitive good natured, bright and active dog.

The coat on the Shiba is somewhat soft, thick and plush to the touch. They have a double coat, with a strong, straight outer coat and a soft undercoat.

The Shiba Inu was bred to flush out ground game from the undergrowth of the mountain areas of Japan. They are very fast and are NOT OFF LEASH DOGS!
